I dunno, I wasnt hearing a little girl voice in my head I was hearing the voice from the captain Naya was her name. in Tenje Tehou(Spelling I think its correct, but not sure) when she is in her grown up form, not her small form.

Yeah, definitly a woman's voice not little girl voice. Maybe mid-high range? I can never explain what I think character voices sound like... at least until I have something to compare it to. There have been numerous times where I read a manga, think it's super cool, go find the anime and then after I've watched it I think "That totally isn't what I thought [insert character name here] sounded like at all!"

Oh southern accents in anime...shudder...ran into that with Mai HiME and My Otome

To make the point, they use southern accents in anime to represent the accent people in hokkaido have, which is of a similar difference as english and redneck english.
